In a world where energy security and climate security are higher on the agenda than ever, the ONS Foundation is proud to continue its strategic partnership with the Munich Security Conference (MSC).
The fourth time
On 28 August 2022, the ONS Summit, organized as a joint event by ONS and MSC, will gather top level decisions-makers, energy CEOs, and thought leaders, in Stavanger, Norway. It is the fourth time ONS and MSC collaborate to make this meeting a leading forum to discuss geopolitics, energy security and energy supply leading up to the ONS Conference and exhibition.
“We are proud to partner with MSC. Together we are raising the important questions concerning energy security and climate security with some of the most important decision-makers. We believe in collaboration to secure energy supply and to reach net zero. Our strategic partnership with MSC is laying the foundation for that”, says Leif Johan Sevland, CEO & President of ONS Foundation.
A significant strategic partnership
Ambassador Boris Ruge, Vice-Chairman of the MSC, underlined the strategic significance of the partnership with ONS Foundation: “In the light of Russia´s renewed invasion of Ukraine and the accelerating climate crisis, we must rethink strategies, policies, and systems. Together, we must examine how to restore trust and international cooperation in an era of great power competition.”
The ONS Summit is set up as a confidential format. It brings together a distinguished and diverse group of representatives from governments, international and nongovernmental organizations, academia, and industry. They discuss the European energy transition and geopolitical shifts accompanying the changing global energy mix.
MSC is the world’s leading forum for the discussion of foreign and security policy. They regularly rank as the world’s best think tank conference and bring together senior decision makers in events around the globe. They also publish key reports to start or elevate crucial debates to the highest level.
ONS is where industry, governments and society meet to shape and facilitate how we produce and consume energy. In 2018 the exhibition had over 68 000 visitors from over 100 countries, and more than 200 conference sessions with a total of more than 700 speakers. ONS will be the driving force to secure energy is on the agenda, and to gather all players necessary to solve large and small energy challenges.
The ONS Summit precedes the biannual ONS Conference which will take place from 29 August to 1 September 2022. “Trust” will be the main theme of this year’s ONS Conference.
