There are many things needed to make CCS (carbon capture and storage) a significant factor towards net zero. Policy support, regulations, carbon pricing and commitment are key factors.

“The North Sea is the place to start, especially when it comes to offshore carbon capture and storage”, James Mackey from OGCI Climate Investments says about scaling up CCS.
Together with several operators and suppliers on the verge of diving into CCS as a major business area, he addressed the question; “In scaling up CCS, what are the challenges?” in a joint webinar with ONS and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).
Among the top challenges he focused on four:
- Policy support
- Regulations
- Carbon pricing
- Corporate and investor commitment
